Abbey & James

Back in August we had the opportunity to play a part in the wedding of Abbey and James, whom we instantly fell in love with. Spending just five minutes with these two love birds would have you smiling and laughing along with them. Needless to say, after quite a few months of planning and prepping we were very excited when their wedding day had finally arrived!

Abbey took great pride in designing her dream wedding, and it was an honor for the As You Wish team to execute her vision for her. Abbey chose black and white with damask and hot pink accents. (We loved it!) The event took place at The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Suffolk, Virginia and there were 220 guests in attendance.

The bridal party wore black and white with pink accents as well. The groomsmen wore white tuxedo jackets with pink rose boutonnieres while the groom had a pink callalily with miniature black feather accent.

Floral creations were provided by Palette of Petals and they did an amazing job!
The girls wore short black dresses with their choice of black shoe (love this!), and a white pearl strand secured with a hanging pink ribbon in the back. Another great touch, courtesy of our stylish bride, Abbey. Our bride carried a gorgeous hand tied bouquet of pink callalilies wrapped with a damask ribbon, while her bridesmaids carried bright pink clutches with a black floral accent. Our fabulous bride wore a stunning pair of pink heels.

While guests were enjoying hor dourves and the musical talents of saxophonist Jashaun Peele in the lobby of The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel during the cocktail hour the As You Wish team was transforming the ceremony space into the reception. The tables consisted of a mixture of damask linens with floral arrangements and damask table runners with candelabras.

This event was filled with as much love and detail as it was energy! The groomsmen, who were all fraternity brothers surprised the newlywed couple with an impromptu step show that was a big hit for the guests as well!

In addition to the step show, guests enjoyed a candy buffet and a gelato bar as the evening went on. The bride and groom had a few tricks up their sleeve as well, and surprised their guests with a nontraditional bouquet and garter toss!

There is a lengthy list of things we love about this couple and their wedding, but one of our absolute favorites is this custom piece of art they had created in their likeness:

And this little guy was a close second

Thank you to Van Gons for the photos

And this priceless photo of our beautiful bride Abbey seeing her honeymoon suite for the first time

Abbey and James, we absolutely adore you both and wish you all the best in your journey together! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day! ❤ all of us at As You Wish

Tara & Jimmy

We had the opportunity to work with this beautiful bride on her April 2nd wedding at The Cavalier Hotel near the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. It's historically known as The Cavalier on the Hill and Tara's wedding was one for the record books as well. Tara was an out-of-town bride who trusted her mother and the As You Wish team with the majority of the wedding planning. And boy did we plan! We helped her put together a stellar team of professional vendors who worked together to make Tara's day nothing short of perfect.

The guests arrived to a beautiful display of roses, and organza bags of petals were given out for the guests to toss during the recessional. The aroma of fresh cut roses swirled through the air and the musical notes from a string quartet filled the room. The ceremony was a heavenly vision of white with ballroom chairs and hanging rose pomanders lining the aisle.

Colorful rose pomanders hung from the wall and romantic rose trees were created on site for the ceremony.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and Hors d'œuvres while the the bridal party took pictures on the hill in front of The Cavalier Hotel with photographer Keith Cephus.

The reception decor included rich eggplant purple linens accented with taupe damask napkins which were gathered with strands of pearls. The centerpieces alternated from tall baroque candlesticks with white feather flumes to short floral arrangements with soft feather accents.

The wedding cake, provided by Shockley's Sweet Shoppe was a 3 layer square cake embellished with a satin ribbon trim and beautiful scrollwork. The florist provided a delicate rose cake topper, and the front of the cake was adorned with the bride's late aunt's brooches. All of the floral arrangements had brooches mixed within the flowers, which beautifully tied into the bride's authentic, hand made brooch bouquet. Shockley's Sweet Shoppe also made a guitar cake for the groom.

The guests danced the night away on the enclosed patio and also enjoyed some fun extras like a chocolate fountain and a photo booth.

Here are a few more detail shots from the wedding day and bridal shoot:

Tara and Jimmy, (and mother of bride Kathi!!) we had a wonderful time planning your wedding and absolutely LOVED every second and detail of the big day. We wish you nothing but love and happiness! -As You Wish team
